The minimum configuration consists of a display box and one target box (and some cables). That's all someone needs for solo practice.
To support two or more shooters, you need additional target boxes. The display can support four shooters, so someone might want to buy up to three more target boxes for each display.
The display can be powered either by a regular 9-volt battery, or by the display power unit ($15), or by an external 12 volt battery (such as a car or motorcycle battery). If the shooter is happy running the display from a 9-volt battery, he doesn't need the Display power unit. The display power unit just enables him to plug into AC power for the display, rather than dig around for a 9-volt battery every time. A new 9-volt battery will run the display for about 10 hours or so.
